Here’s exactly how a guide on MyTaxServices.ca gets researched, written, reviewed, and kept up to date.
Where Our Information Comes From
Every guide is built from primary, official sources first — the Canada Revenue Agency (canada.ca/cra), Canada.ca’s benefits and pension pages, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), Service Canada, and, where relevant, provincial government sources. We link directly to the specific official page a fact comes from wherever possible, so you can check it yourself rather than take our word for it.
How Guides Are Reviewed
Tax and pension guides are reviewed by Benjamin Tremblay, who spent his career in tax and retirement finance before retiring, for accuracy against current CRA rules and figures. Review happens both before a guide is first published and again whenever we revisit it for an update.
Keeping Guides Current
Tax rules, benefit amounts, and payment dates change — often annually, sometimes mid-year. We prioritize revisiting guides tied to figures that change every year (contribution limits, benefit amounts, payment schedules, filing deadlines) as soon as the CRA or Canada.ca publishes updated numbers. A guide that hasn’t been revisited recently doesn’t mean it’s wrong, but always cross-check a specific dollar figure or deadline against the official CRA source we link to.
What This Site Is — and Isn’t
MyTaxServices.ca is an independent, self-published informational resource. We are not the Canada Revenue Agency, a registered accounting firm, or a licensed tax, legal, or financial advisory practice, and nothing here is personalized advice for your specific situation. For decisions that matter, verify directly with the CRA or a licensed accountant, tax preparer, or financial advisor.
Corrections
Tax content is detailed enough that mistakes can happen despite review. If you spot something that looks outdated or incorrect, we want to know — contact us at contact@mytaxservices.ca with the page and what looks wrong, and we’ll check it against the current CRA source and correct it.
